Medicaid work requirement in Georgia: what applies to you in 2027
Starting no later than January 2027, most adults 19 to 64 on Medicaid expansion must show 80 hours a month of work, school, volunteering or a work program, or $580 of income, unless the rule does not apply to them. Below is what Georgia has published about how it will check, with a link to each source. Georgia decides; this page only explains.
Who it covers in Georgia
Georgia did not expand Medicaid. Pathways to Coverage is the section 1115 adult-coverage demonstration (19-64, income at or below 100% FPL), and DCH applies the H.R.1 community engagement rules to it from 2027-01-01. Traditional (non-Pathways) Medicaid is not affected.

Georgia has not said this yet on the pages checked. Ask your Medicaid office, and keep copies of what you send.
- Whether your own word counts in 2027: not published as of 2026-10-20. The page instead tells members and applicants to keep proof (pay stubs, school records, volunteer logs) because DFCS 'may ask for proof'.
